Two people sustained apparent minor injuries when a semi truck ran into the rear of a pickup truck pulling a camper trailer in the southbound lanes of I-57 at mile marker 124 near Alma.
Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day says after the semi hit the camper it continued about a half mile scattering pieces of the camper along the way. The truck also crushed the bed and the rear passenger seat on the pickup. Day reports both drivers were out of their vehicles when emergency help arrived. They were both later transferred to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries.
State Police are handling the crash, but have not released any details.
Day says both drivers were not from the local area.
The crash occurred at 10:54 Saturday night. Day says the southbound interstate was blocked for about 45 minutes between the Kinmundy and Salem exits. State Police say all lanes were reopened shortly after three Sunday morning.
