The Prairie State Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution dedicated a plaque on Saturday in memory of those from the area that served in the Revolutionary War.

Chapter Regent Stella Schilling told those in attendance.

“It is a very proud day for the Prairie State Chapter from the American revolution. We’ve been a part of this community for almost 86 years. We are 45 members strong, a legacy of 45 revolutionary war patriots. As daughters, we celebrate 4th of July and all it stands for every time we get together, but this special fourth, we want to dedicate this plaque. Not only to the memory of our revolutionary ancestors, but to our chapter sisters, past and present.”

The plaque is near the main entrance off West Broadway into Fairview Park. The ceremony was held after the Veteran’s 4th of July parade.
