A Marion County Jury deliberated about 40 minutes before finding a 50-year- old Vernon woman guilty of arson following a two day jury trial.
Misty Podergois of Farthing Road was accused of setting a pickup truck on fire at a home in the 100 block of East 16th Street in Centralia on March 15th, 2022.
Marion County State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says Podergois faces 3 to 7 years in prison on the charge, which is also probational. Sentencing was set for August 19th at one pm.
Hudspeth says video showed Podergois standing next to the truck when it caught fire and then became fully engulfed in flames. She didn’t deny she was there, but claimed she did not start the fire. The window Podergois was standing next to had been broke out.
The victim’s truck was parked in the driveway of Podergois' sister at the time of the fire. Hudspeth says a motive of why Podergois set the fire was never established.
