Most local government offices are celebrating Independence Day on Friday, July 3rd, since the holiday falls on Saturday. Salem and Centralia City Halls, along with area courthouses, will be closed on Friday. Trash pickup in Centralia will be on Friday as usual. Centralia City Officials say Republic crews are starting an hour earlier this week to try to get routes finished before the heat of the day.
However, Friday is not a banking holiday, and many financial institutions will be open on Friday and closed on Saturday, July 4th.
The post offices will be open and there will be home mail delivery on Friday, but not Saturday.
