High Point Residence Salem North has opened five more Memory Care Apartments.
The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Thursday afternoon to welcome the addition to the facility off the South Hotze Road. Marketing Director Angie Heinmann says all the new units are spoken for.
“Five new rooms, apartments, and they all have a little kitchen X. They have their own private bathroom with a full bathroom, and they have what we call a studio because it’s an open floor concept. So people with dementia, everything is visual so it always triggers them to remember what they need to do. With us they take Medicaid, so anybody is welcome, all income levels. We want to stress that everyone is welcome. That’s what makes this unique. The only one in Marion County that is dedicated to memory care that also offers Medicaid.
Heinmann says don’t just assume the care is too expensive for your loved one, check with them to determine the cost for your income situation. With the expansion, High Point Residence Salem North now has 20 units. The original building was constructed 19 years ago.
Addition staff has been hired, with a total work force now of 21 employees. Heinmann says all staff members have additional training to work around dementia residents.
