The Salem Community High School Board Monday night approved salary increases for employees.
The High School Education Association and the Support Personnel Association were both given new four year contracts. The teacher’s will receive about four percent annually. The increase will include a step increase, 2-percent added to the salary schedule, and a 1.5% of board paid teacher retirement system contribution. There is also a $100 per month increase for family and $75 per month for single health insurance. Support personnel 4.5-percent plus a health insurance increase of $150 per month. Other non-certified employees not covered under contract will receive a 4.5- percent increase for the coming year.
The board approved a quarter increase in the price of lunch and breakfast, bring the cost of lunch to $2 and the cost of lunch to $3.75. Registration fees will remain at $50 a year.
The board will be selling the old gym bleachers and basketball goals being removed during a summer improvement program. The school will announce when they are available. The board also agreed to sell two no longer needed vehicles, a 1999 Suburban and 2005 Yukon.
The board received a letter of retirement from Kay Thomas, effective December 22nd. The board accepted three letters of resignation. They are from Elizabeth Smith as assistant girls track coach, Chris Watkins at assistant football coach, Olivia Wayer as assistant girls’ volleyball coach.
The board hired Ashley Wilmoth as paraprofessional, Deanna Sullens as a kitchen helper, Kelly Smith as assistant volleyball coach, and Ashley Savage and Lynnsey Heinzmann as Student Council Sponsors.
