Salem Family Fun Day in the Park drew a big crown to Bryan Memorial Park on Saturday.

Recreation Director Jed Casburn was pleased.

“Had a great crowd. Started out with the fishing derby, we had about 20 participants. So thankful for everyone who came out that early this morning. Then the rest of the day is here in the park with our awesome businesses and churches.”

Casburn says the group was able to provide a wide variety of games and refreshments.

“We’ve got bubbles at the entrance and the end. We’ve got some arcade games out here with arcade RJ tactical.  Then at the end of the trail, we’ve got police in their dunking booth. Everyone in between have their graphs and its busy.”

Casburn says the event is one where families don’t always have to have their wallets out to pay for something, as the food and all the activities are free.

For the Fish Derby there were three class’s for age ranges. For the 14-18 year old range, 15 year old Tyson Wilson came in first place. For the 8-13 year old range, 11 year old Heath Foldman came in first place. Finally for the 4-7 year old range, 4 year old Benji Adams came in first place.
