A ribbon cutting was held Monday by the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce to welcome the Farmer’s State Bank Salem facility.
It will be located in the 200 block of South Broadway and will initially have two employees loan office and manager Meredith Robb and receptionist Mary Kempf.
Bank President and CEO Ted Macon says this will be the fourth location for the bank.
“This is just a loan office, so it will be just for loan origination. Meredith will be able to do commercial, ag, and consumer loans, whether that be real estate, equipment, auto loans, all of that. We will not take deposits or anything here yet. We’re hoping, of course, that we get the business volume that will justify maybe a full-service branch in the future.”
Farmer’s State Bank is based in Hoffman with other branches in Central City and Hoyleton. The bank is in its 115th year.
The Salem facility will initially be open from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on Tuesday and Thursday by appointment.
