Marion County Board member Brock Waggoner has resigned from his District One seat.
Waggoner’s short note, submitted on Friday, only said that it was to confirm his decision to step down.
The Marion County Republican Central Committee earlier voted to caucus in Waggoner for the November election ballot for an open seat in District Two. However, Waggoner will have to obtain the necessary nominating signatures before his name can be submitted to be on the ballot. The deadline to file is Monday.
Marion County Clerk Steve Fox says Board Chair Steve Whritenour will be able to appoint a person to replace Waggoner as a District One board member until December first.
Those who want to run for what will be a two-year unexpired seat in District One have until August 26th to file their petitions at the Marion County Clerk’s Office to get on the November ballot.
