The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that I-57 traffic will be diverted overnight Monday, June 1st, and Tuesday, June 2nd for structural steel placement on the Illinois 15 overpass in Mt. Vernon.
Closures are scheduled nightly from seven pm to seven am, weather permitting.
Traffic will be routed around the work zone using the entrance and exit ramps at the interchange.
Flaggers will be on site during overnight operations to direct traffic and assist motorists through the interchange.
In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen delays, the work will be rescheduled.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
