The Odin Fireman’s Picnic will open Thursday evening and run through Saturday.
Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says some changes have already been made due to the extreme wet conditions that will limit parking in the Odin Park.
“Of course obviously the main highlight will be the Saturday night fireworks. We spent a little extra money this year. To help celebrate the 250th year of our nation and have a little bit longer fire work display a little bit bigger.”
Smith says the fireworks will end a full day of activity, with the three dayevent beginning on Thursday night.
“Carnival rides will open at 6, food will ready at 6, and the cakewalk will probably open sometime around 7. Friday night is the same thing, we will open back up again at 6. Probably start the cake walk around 7. We will have food ready by 6 as always. Then Saturday we are going to have to switch gears a little bit because of the rain. The car and audio show will be moved up town to the school. The school has allowed us to use their parking lot. That will run from noon to 6. We will have stuff to eat up there also from about noon to 4 o clock.”
Activity moves back to the Odin Park at six Saturday night, with food, the carnival, cake walk and other activities leading up to the fireworks display at ten Saturday night. The display will include the American Flag and 250th firework to celebrate the country’s birthday.
Due to the wet conditions, parking and shuttle bus service from South Central Transit will be available Friday and Saturday night from the Odin School faculty and student parking lots. If more room is needed, the busses will move to some church parking lots.
WJBD/WSIQ will update you on any additional changes through the weekend due to the weather.
