A New Baden Police Officer is the victim of a pedestrian-vehicle accident late Tuesday night on the Wesclin Road in rural Trenton.
Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous says 59-year-old David Jordan received head and chest injuries, with arriving police and emergency services personnel immediately rendering aid. He was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon where he succumbed to his injuries.
No details have yet been released about the driver of the vehicle as the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police continue an active investigation.
Travous says Jordan began his law enforcement career at the Belleville Police Department before transferring to the Trenton Police and then on to New Baden Police nearly ten years ago. He was off duty at the time and Travous says there is absolutely no evidence he did anything to cause this awful incident.
Travous says many people who Dave touched during his life are struggling to come to grips with his passing. He along with those at the sheriff’s office wish to offer their heartfelt condolences and prayers to al of Dave’s friends and family.
