State Police and Salem Firemen were called to mile marker 113 on Interstate 57 southbound during the heavy rains Monday afternoon after a vehicle had apparently hydroplaned off the roadway.
Salem Fire officials say the vehicle left the west side of the highway, was able to travel between several trees without hitting them, and then began nearly floating on flood waters.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on their own without injury.
