Fire destroyed a detached shop Sunday afternoon at the John Rogers home at 2869 County Farm Road southeast of Salem.
Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton says the building was engulfed in flames upon their arrival. The cause of the fire in the 24 by 48 foot building has not been determined, but is believed to have started in the rear of the structure.
Rogers had been in a different part of the building earlier in the day, but was in his house when the fire was discovered. Fulton says the house was not threatened by the fire.
The fire call came in at three Sunday afternoon, with firemen on the scene for about an hour. Kell and Iuka Firemen assisted at the scene, while Odin stood by at the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.
