Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says two people have been arrested after the sheriff’s department responded to a burglary in progress early Monday morning at the Lucky Marble Bar and Gaming in Patoka.
The two are identified as 61-year-old Harlis Atteberry and 38-year-old Damon Deboer, both from Salem. They have both been booked on charges including burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Upon arriving, the first deputy observed a male subject exiting the business and attempting to flee on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, during which the deputy deployed a Taser twice. A subject later identified as Atteberry, continued to physically resist before a second deputy arrived to assist in taking him into custody.
Deputies then determined a second person remained inside the business. After the Centralia K-9 unit arrived on the scene, the second suspect attempted to exit the building and flee. The individual, later identified as Deboer, was apprehended after a Taser was deployed during the attempted escape.
The investigation is ongoing. The burglary was first reported around four am.
