Today is the final day of the IHSA boy’s basketball season with the 4 classes of state title games played at the State Farm Center in Champaign.

 

At 10am, Goreville will take on Chicago Marshall for the 1a title followed at noon by the 2a clash between Peoria Manual and Quincy Notre Dame.  The 3a title between East St Louis and Deerfield is at 4pm and the 4a title game at 6pm is between Maris and Benet Academy.

 

Yesterday, East St Louis punched their ticket to the 3a finals with a dominant 59-40 win over the Leo Lions.  Alex Johnson led the Flyers with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Phillip Jones added 17 and Jamison White had a big double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.  Brian Kizer had 11 to lead Leo.

 

Deerfield handed Kaneland their first loss of the season after 35 straight wins 49-48 in overtime.  Jake Pollack had 20 points in the win, Evan Nagler added 11.  Jeffrey Hassan and Evan Frieders had 10 for Kaneland.

 

In the 3a 3rd place game, Kaneland would finish their season 36-1 with a 35-32 win over Leo.  Marshawn Cocroft had 17 in the win.  Andre Tucker had 10 in loss.

 

In the 4a semifinals, Maris easily defeated York 55-38.  Kendall Meyers had 15 and Charles Barnes Jr added 14 in the win for the Redhawks.  York got 10 from Hunter Stephanich.

 

Benet Academy edged DePaul College Prep 39-38.  Jayden Wrigth had 11 points and Edvardas Stasys added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.  In the loss, Rashaun Porter had 14 and Rykan Woo added 11.

 

DePaul would win the 4a 3rd place game over York 56-46.  Woo led DePaul with 18 and Porter added 13.
