Salem Police Chief Todd Boles has released the department’s annual report.
Boles says the department made 268 arrests. 10,863 calls for service were received, resulting in 646 incident reports. There were 880 traffic stops.
Boles also provided a breakdown on some of the crimes being reported. There were 16 burglaries, 32 thefts, and 26 retail thefts reported. The department reported 25 criminal damage to property under $250 reports, 23 domestic battery, 16 motor vehicle thefts, 16 reports of disorderly conduct, 13 cases involving under five grams of meth, and 12 instances of violation of an order of protection.
Boles is pleased to see the absence of violent crimes. He feels the flock cameras will help solve a greater number of the retail theft cases with license plates obtained from stores.
