The Centralia City Schools Board of Education approved a 60-month lease agreement with WATTS for replacement of outdated copy machines in the school district. The district’s current copy machines were purchased in 2020 and are deteriorating due to heavy use, with multiple complaints from teachers about the machines running poorly. The new machines are expected to arrive within four to five weeks of being ordered.

This month’s curriculum report was delivered by district instructional coaches Teresa Burdin and Laurie Miller, who gave a presentation to the board on the work coaches do with teachers to assist in the classroom and further professional development. The coaches have received positive feedback in survey responses from the teachers they’ve worked with, with new teachers reporting that coaching helped them adjust to the job and build confidence.

The board accepted the resignations of Natalie Williamson as assistant softball coach and varsity girls’ basketball coach for 26-27 school year and Nichole Hixson as 7th grade basketball coach for 26-27 school year.

Superintendent Christina Becker noted that Central Middle School has been recognized as a Physical Education Blue Ribbon Award recipient, and thanked P.E. teachers Mike Lambert and Cortney Denton for the work they put into the P.E. program.
