One person was burned in a flash fire that destroyed a barn in rural Kinmundy late Monday afternoon.

Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day says Trevor Robins was using a cooker inside the barn at 7110 Meachum Road when he heard a propane tank beginning to pop off as it warmed up.   He told everyone to get out, but before he was able to exit a flash fire occurred when the propane connected with the fire in the cooker.

Robins received first and second degree burns to his face and arms.   He was transported to Salem Township Hospital via Kinmundy-Alma and United Medical Response ambulances.

By the time firemen arrived on the scene, Day says the fire had fully engulfed the 30 by 60 foot pole barn.  The barn along with a car, boat, and three propane tanks were destroyed.  However, Day says none of the propane tanks exploded.

The fire call came in at 4:30 Monday afternoon, with firemen on the scene about two hours.
