Three individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary in Mt. Vernon, according to a release from the Mt. Vernon Police Department.

24-year-old David Porter of Belle Rive was arrested following the execution of a search warrant on January 2. Porter has been charged with Residential Burglary, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Defacing Identification Marks on a Firearm. A parole warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections was issued for Porter earlier in the week.

Investigations over the following days yielded further information and three additional search warrants in the Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County area.

The first search warrant was conducted in the 1700 block of Harlan Rd. There, a juvenile was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. A search of the residence revealed firearms and ammunition inside the residence. 22-year-old Riley M. Scott of Mt. Vernon was taken into custody and charged with Obstructing Justice. Riley has been released due to the SAFE T Act.

The second search warrant was executed in the 1000 block of Abbott Lane in southeastern Jefferson County. 20-year-old Ray C Garrison of Belle Rive was taken into custody at the residence and charged with Defacing Identification Marks on a Firearm, Armed Violence, Methamphetamine Possession, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

The third search warrant was executed in the 300 block of Gum St in Belle Rive. 18-year-old Gavin A Bradford of Belle Rive was taken into custody and charged with Obstructing Justice and Residential Burglary.

Additional stolen property was located as a result of the search warrants, and the joint investigation continues.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
