A line of sometimes heavy shower activity crossed South Central Illinois on Thursday night, resulting in several severe thunderstorm warnings being issued.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports all of the damage reports they received involved downed trees and tree limbs, a few that briefly blocked roads until removed.   Most of the reports came from the southeast part of Marion County and across the northern part of the county.  There were no reports of building damage.

The Salem Fire Protection District was called out to a tree that had fallen across a power line on Big Bend Lane on Lake Centralia.   Firemen stood by until Tri-County Electric was able to make repairs.

While some areas received heavy downpours, both Salem and Centralia missed the heavy rains.  The Salem Water Treatment Plant recorded 15-hundreths of an inch and the Centralia Water Plant 23-hundredths of an inch.

Salem set a new record high of 67 degrees on Thursday, breaking the old record high of 64 in 2003.
