The Salem Community Activity Center has shutdown open gym until Friday due to vandalism by some of those utilizing the gym.
Community Center Executive Director Marcie Auvil says when open gym resumes on Friday, anyone under 18 will have to be accompanied by an adult.
The decision comes after some were spitting candy on the floor and then grinding it into the tile, vandalizing the bathrooms and getting into the upper stories where they are prohibited from going. Once upstairs, a fire extinguisher was discharged and one of the participants accidentally locked herself in a locker and had to be freed by staff.
