Jefferson Fire officials say a fire at a Bonnie home early Saturday morning was confined to wiring above the ceiling of the kitchen.
Jeff Axe and another occupant of the home at 455 West Allen were woken by a dog and then smelled smoke. They exited the home and called the fire department.
Before firemen were able to quickly confine the fire to an electrical problem, Mt. Vernon City and Benton Firemen were called for mutual aid on the scene. Kell and Wayne City Firemen stood by at the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 2:27 Saturday morning. Firemen were on the scene for about an hour.
