A 60-year-old Walnut Hill woman escaped injury when running off the Walnut Hill Road near Schwartz Road in rural Walnut Hill and overturning her car against the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks.
Melissa Donoho of Marion Street had left the area before Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene. She was called to come back to the crash site and was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident. Donoho said she lost control and left the road when trying to avoid hitting a deer.
Train traffic had to be stopped until the car could be towed.
The crash occurred at 12:11 Christmas morning.
