A single wide mobile home being used for storage was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was at the Boone residence at 10220 Rileyville Road about a mile south of the Marion County line.
The fire was initially reported as a double wide mobile home on fire with multiple exposures. But when firemen arrived, they learned the structure was a single wide with no other exposures nearby.
But with the initial report, Kell Firemen had called Mt. Vernon City, Jefferson Fire, and the Centralia Fire Protection District to the scene for mutual aid. Salem and Iuka Firemen were dispatched to cover the Kell Fire Station in the event of another fire.
There were no utilities to the home and the cause of the fire was not determined.
The owner had plans to tear down the structure in the near future.
The fire call came in at 3:46 Tuesday afternoon with firemen on the scene for about two hours.
