Centralia High School Superintendent Dr. Chuck Lane has been named this year’s Superintendent of the Year by the Kaskaskia Region of the Illinois Principal’s Association.
Lane was nominated by Centralia High Principal Reid Shipley. He noted during Lane’s 20 years as Superintendent there have been numerous state and federal funding issues, but no matter what the circumstance, Centralia High was able to keep all curriculum and extracurricular activities. Shipley said Lane also found funding to continue and enhance exceptional career technical education classes. He added CHS has been able to provide dual credit, honors, and AP courses for the highest achieving students.
Shipley says Lane is definitely not a micromanager and allows others, including himself, to do their job without scrutinizing everything we do. Shipley says Lane has had enough trust and faith in him to allow him to make staff decisions, curriculum decisions and speak with board members when necessary.
