Edwin E. Gordon, 88, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away at his son’s home in Iuka, Illinois, surrounded by family. He was born June 4th, 1937, in Joliet, Illinois, to Edward and Kathryn (Hendrickson) Gordon. He would later marry Kathleen Brown, and they would spend 66 years together, till her passing.

He is survived by his 8 children: Edna West, Edwin Jr. (Jelyn) Gordon, JoAnn (Milton) George, Thomas (Marilyn) Gordon, William Gordon, John (Kim) Gordon, Michael Gordon, and Doug Gordon; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister: Mary Schwartz of W. Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Kathryn Gordon; wife: Kathleen Gordon; two grandchildren: Rebecca Gordon and Kenneth Gordon; great-grandchild: Payton Burke; son-in-law: Dale West; daughter-in-law: Amy Gordon; four sisters; and four brothers.

Edwin was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. In the Army, he was a diesel mechanic, which led to him working 48 years as a diesel mechanic at Reynolds Metals in McCook, IL. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Cremation rites will be accorded, per his wishes. A private burial will take place at a future date. Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, in Salem, is honored to be of help to the family.
