The Salem Community Theatre presents the musical, ‘Cinnamon Grits, Christmas in the South, this Thursday through Sunday.
Everything is nice when you add a little cinnamon spice! The holiday sequel to the southern hit GRITS: The musical (Girls Raised in the South) centers on hilarious tales of holiday soirees and endearing family dysfunction. See how their four belles Charlotte, Georgia, Virginia and Florence cope with their countrified Christmas problems.

Dottie Register plays Georgia.
“They’re gonna see everybody singing and everybody dancing. Everyone has a monologue and a song following it that pertains to that part of the south or what that character has experienced. Then there will be group songs, and a lot of those will be familiar songs, Christmas carols, those songs will be songs we all know.”
Lucinda Register plays Charlotte, Janet Broom Virginia and Morgan Isaiah is Florence.

There is also a band. Rich Sinclair plays a bass guitar.
“There are 13 musical numbers in the show its a four piece band . I’m playing base. We’ve got Tom Baker on guitar, Kris Margatay on keyboard, and Tom champion is our drums. We’ve been working on these songs for about 3-4 months, so were hoping they really can do justice to these fine lady singers.”
Showtimes are seven Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with a three Sunday afternoon matinee.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are available at the Salem Theatre Office, Salem City Hall, or online at SalemILTheatre.org. You may also purchase tickets
