A student at the Menta School in Wamac was arrested Monday after allegedly stabbing another student four times in the left side of the neck and back with a pencil.
Devonte Hunter of North Main in Hoyleton was formally charged in Marion County Court Tuesday with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of resisting arrest.
After Wamac Police arrived, he allegedly came after officers with the pencil. Hunter reportedly continued to fight with police after he was handcuffed. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
