The Salem Police Department’s Fraternal Order of Police raised $15,000 this year to take 63 kids shopping for this year’s Shop with a Cop program.

Salem Police officers joined Marion County Sheriff’s Department Deputies in taking the kids shopping Saturday morning at the Salem Walmart.

Ian King is President of the Fraternal Order of Police.

“Our SRO usually gets with the school, and the school provides us with a list of kids,” King said. “We go around and let them pick out some toys. They also get them some clothes if they need it, and the amount we spend on clothes doesn’t go against the price we spend on them.”

Kids are also allowed to buy gifts for other family members.
