Verta Lee Splechter, 90, of Sandoval, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 22, 2025, at High Point Residence in Centralia. She was born on October 5, 1935, in Sandoval, the daughter of Owen and Margaret (Jordan) Skeen. She married the love of her life, Bobby Leo Splechter, on May 9, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2025.

Survivors that will hold dear memories of Verta Lee in their hearts include her children, Charles Joseph Splechter and wife Terri of Sandoval, Becky Allen and husband Norman of Sandoval, and Lisa Wolenhaupt Centralia; grandchildren, Gary Gelsinger, Robbie Gelsinger, LeeAnn Gelsinger, Brionna Bierman, Kasey Rankin, Kathryn Bouchard, Tim Wolenhaupt, and Chris Wolenhaupt; great-grandchildren, Mark, Taylor, Hailey, Jenna, Cody, Jordan, Benjamin, Abigail, Tayshia, Tatiyona, Jessica, Noah, Carter, Malakhai, Isla, Aria, and Rhys; great-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Aries, Ariella, Ahjunaya; and Adriel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Along with her husband of 72 years, Bobby Splechter, Verta Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Margaret (Jordan) Skeen; son-in-law, Brad Wolenhaupt; and grandson-in-law, Travis Bierman.

Verta Lee was a lady of faith and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Odin. With her church family, Verta Lee loved volunteering in the activity department at Odin Health Care, bringing many warm smiles to the residents. She served her community as an election judge in Sandoval for many years. Verta Lee was very creative and enjoyed making beautiful quilts for her family to treasure. She was the very best Grandma to her amazing grandkids, sharing stories of how proud she was of each of them. Verta Lee had a kind, compassionate heart, was generous, thoughtful and loved her family more than anything.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Rev. Tom Spain officiating. Interment will follow at Sandoval City Cemetery in Sandoval, where Verta Lee will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Bobby. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Verta Lee’s honor to the Sandoval City Cemetery.
