Salem Firemen say some of the residents of Helia Health Care were evacuated Sunday morning when two fire alarms sounded in different parts of the nursing home facility. Firemen say the problem turned out to be problematic sensors, but it took some time to determine there wasn’t an actual problem.
Salem Firemen were called to a fire in a vacant garage at a home on Warmoth Street in Salem around midnight. Police reportedly found a man inside who had set the fire to stay warm. There was no damage reported. The man was ordered to leave the home.
