A resident of One Hope United who has been arrested multiple times has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections Juvenile Justice prison for an indeterminate sentence that could last until her 21st birthday.
The 16-year-old was sentenced on a robbery charge in Marion County Court on Wednesday. She had been released back to One Hope United when the sentencing hearing was delayed with the promise she would not get in any other trouble. However, that happened when she allegedly struck three Centralia Police Officers and an EMT trying to avoid getting into an ambulance to check for drug usage while she had left campus. The juvenile was then placed back in detention until Wednesday’s sentencing.
State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth in reality expects the girl to only serve four to five months in juvenile DOC. He hopes that when she gets out, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services will not send her back to One Hope United.
