The Salem Elks Lodge #1678 has made donations totaling $8,300 from the proceeds of this year’s charity golf tournament.

Co-Chair Ron Eller says this is the 30th year for the tournament.

“I think there are 70 hole sponsors this year,” Eller said. “As far as teams, we were down from 30 to 20. Weather, we don’t know, but we still had a very good turnout. I think everybody enjoyed it.”

Eller says $1,000 donations were made to the Emmanuel Equine Ministry, Mission Salem, Boys Trail Life, Salem FOP Shop with a Cop, Pregnancy Care Center, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department to benefit the SRO program.  The Grace United Methodist Church Diaper Program, SCHS Booster Club and Royal Family Kidz Camp each received $600.   The Main Street Flag Fund received $500 to be able to purchase new large US Flags when flags become tattered over time.

Eller co-chaired the event with Kent Gruenkemeyer, Jim Davis and Tracy Garden.

Eller says they are very appreciative for the community support, especially the hole sponsors who help raise a big share of the money.
