A 40-year-old Mt. Vernon man already ordered to be held without bond following multiple charges after an alleged road rage incident on U.S. 50 near Odin Saturday afternoon now faces a new charge.
Rodney Moore of Main Street was formally charged in Marion County Court on Thursday for aggravated battery to a Marion County Correctional Officer. He’s accused of throwing a lunch bag and hitting the officer’s leg. The incident allegedly occurred on October 8th.
Moore was already being held on aggravated battery, armed violence, weapons and drug charges following the original incident. He allegedly grabbed the neck of a driver from Decatur that hit his car in the rear and also took the other driver’s keys. After the Salem canine alerted on the vehicle, a handgun, six baggies of cocaine, and cannabis were allegedly found.
Moore had a public defender appointed to represent him on the additional aggravated battery charge. A preliminary hearing is set for October 28th.
