Sandoval School Superintendent Rob Miller has resigned to become Superintendent of the larger East Alton-Wood River School District.
The board accepted the resignation effective June 30th with regret Wednesday night. School Board President Joseph Rhodes said Miller will go down as one of the best superintendents the district has ever had.
Miller looks back with fondness at the past three years.
“It’s been great. The Board of Education, teaching staff and kids have been great. We’ve done a lot of work and some great things together so it’s been a good time.”
And Miller looks back at several accomplishments.
“I think everything from curriculum and instruction to culture and climate to buildings and grounds we’ve tried to address everything.”
And major building projects are scheduled for both school buildings this summer as a result of COVID-19 federal relief funding. The grade school office will be renovated and flooring replaced at a cost of $153,000. The boiler system will be replaced at the Junior-Senior High School at a cost of $83,000.
The district has also seen a turnaround in its finances as a result of the state’s new funding formula, the one-cent sales tax for schools and federal COVID relief money. A new sweep account program to earn interest on district funds raised $3,170 in the past month alone.
