The Sandoval Village Board will seek a 12-year extension to its tax increment financing district that is scheduled to expire at the end of next year.

Village Administrator LeeAnn Speiser says the Sandoval School Superintendent has indicated his support.   The village will now seek a commitment from the school board and other taxing bodies in the district.

The Sandoval Board hired Moran and Associates to assist with the application process.

During the past 22 years, Sandoval has used the TIF to bring in a number of businesses to the community, starting with the Dollar General Store.

The board was told plans have now been finalized for a combined Halloween-Homecoming Parade and celebration for Friday afternoon, October 24th.  The parade will include Sandoval students dressed for Halloween as well as the high school homecoming court.   Vendors are also being invited downtown with a chili-peanut butter and sandwich dinner to be served at the community center.

The board voted to surplus property at 202 Wisconsin where a home was earlier torn down in hopes of selling the property for redevelopment and to get it back on the tax rolls.

The Sandoval Library is now part of the Heartland Library System and Share.  It will allow patrons to check out materials from libraries throughout its Illinois footprint.  Right now, the checkout has to be through a librarian, but it will soon be possible for patrons to do on their own.
