A 30-year-old Jacksonville, IL man has been identified as the man who died in a Friday night crash in the Goshen Road Rest Area on I-64 east of Mt. Vernon in Jefferson County.
Coroner Roger Hayse says Robenson Benoit died from massive head injuries.
State Police say Benoit’s car entered the rest area entrance ramp, drove off the roadway, and into the rest area parking lot where it hit a parked semi in the rear.
Benoit was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck driver was not hurt.
Hayse says a State Police Accident Reconstructionist is trying to determine what may have led up to Benoit driving into the rest area.
The crash occurred at 9:09 Friday night.
