Two Iowa residents were able to walk away from a wild crash on I-57 southbound at mile marker 133 just south of Farina.
The driver of the pickup truck, 55-year-old Rebecca Dawson of Peosta, Iowa told first arriving Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies she fell asleep before running into the median. Initial reports indicate her car then crossed both northbound lanes before running off the west side of the highway and rolling over.
Both Dawson, and passenger 74-year-old William McMeon, also of Peosta, Iowa, were sitting outside the vehicle by the time emergency help arrived. They were checked by Kinmundy-Alma fire and ambulance personnel and refused hospital treatment.
State Police are handling the crash that was first reported at 2:43 Sunday afternoon.
