Marion County Fair Board President Doug Telford says it was a good fair week even with the extremely hot start.
Telford reviewed the week as the fair came to a close on Saturday night.
“We started extremely hot, but I will brag on the Marion county fair board. The fair board members, we all pulled together. We pulled through the heat and we made sure to have every show ready for the grandstands. The community come out and supported us through the heat. Unfortunately, that’s all we had was a lot of hot air the first few nights. It turned off and got cooler towards the end of the week. The community come out again for us. It’s been a good week all and all.”
Telford says attendance at the exhibit building was up, possibly because it was air conditioned and a good place to go to get a break from the heat.
“Wed like to take a month off and get regrouped. See what worked and didn’t work. I felt everything we tried this year worked, but we’ll look and see where we need to make improvements.”
The fair ended Friday and Saturday with big grandstand crowds and a full midway for the carnival.
