The Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 32-year-old Salem man for alleged possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Deputies took Thomas Wilkins of North Jefferson into custody after investigating a suspicious vehicle at the Rock ‘n Roll Storage Units on South Broadway in Salem.
Reports indicate Salem Police arrived to assist, and the canine alerted on the vehicle. Wilkins then indicated he had a pistol which was given to a deputy before the vehicle was searched.
The incident occurred at 2:08 Thursday morning.
