A fire destroyed a skid loader being used to clear brush on property near Boyd in northern Jefferson County Sunday afternoon.
Jefferson Fire Protection District Firemen say Al Kremer of Justin Lane heard a popping sound and then saw fire underneath the seat. He was able to drive the skid loader to the road but was unable to get to the source of the fire. The skid loader was destroyed by the time firemen arrived on the scene.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a mechanical problem.
The call came in at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
