The City of Salem will be changing out gas meters on a portion of the southwest side of town starting next Monday.

Public Works Director Annette Brushwitz says residents from the 1000 block of South College through the 2600 block of South College, all of West Lake Street, and the 1200 block of South Franklin are included in the project.

Brushwitz says the work will be done by the gas crew and is expected to take about a month to complete.

Residents will be without gas service for a short time while the meter is being replaced.  All pilot lights will be re-ignited by City Gas Department personnel.

Brushwitz says all city employees will be in city uniform or have city identification that should be checked by residents.
