Karen Young, 77, of Salem passed away peacefully in the early morning on March 16th, 2025, at Breese Nursing Home in Breese Illinois.
Karen was born on October 20th, 1947, in Salem to Harold and Audrey (Holler) Turner. She would marry Larry Young on June 2nd, 1967, and they would spend 57 wonderful years together. She was a simple woman that had a caring heart for others and an unwavering faith in her Savior.
Karen worked many different jobs over the years, reflecting her strong work ethic and compassionate nature. She spent time at Brown Shoe Company, Curves for Women, and dedicated herself to sitting with many elderly people, providing comfort and companionship.
She is survived by her husband: Larry Young; son: Chris Young and wife Corinne of Salem; daughter: Jennifer (Young) Hemann and husband Clint of Albers; grandchildren: Trey Williams of Centralia, Richard Brown of Salem, Kasandra Brown of Salem, Karmen Murray-Young, Haden Young, Nolan Young, Kinzleigh Murray-Young all of Salem, and Emily Nix of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great grandchildren: Finley Brown, Izzy Brown and Josie Milner, all of Salem; brother: David Turner and wife Kim of Nashville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Audrey Turner; and an aunt: Caroline Sue Turner.
Cremation rites will be afforded, in accordance with Karen’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, 310 North Broadway/ P.O.
