Salem Police say three people went to Salem Township Hospital for treatment following a two-vehicle head-on crash on West Main Street east of Missouri Avenue.
Police say a pickup driven by 73-year-old Harold Herman of Swan Lane in Salem made a left-hand turn out of the Huck’s store and collided with a westbound car on Main driven by 19-year-old Madeline Whyers of Odin Road in Odin. Police say Herman’s view of the Whyer’s car was partially blocked by a truck.
Both drivers were injured along with a passenger in the Whyers’ vehicle, 20-year-old Eli Crouch of South Castle in Salem.
Herman was ticketed for failure to yield when exiting a private drive.
There was a small fire in the engine compartment of the Whyers’ car that was extinguished by Salem Firemen. All the occupants got out of the vehicles on their own.
The crash occurred at 1:26 Friday afternoon.
