Chicago Hope’s defense suffocated St Anthony as the Bulldogs fell in their Class 1a State Semifinal 56-50 at the State Farm Center. Brock Fearday led the Bulldogs with a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds on 9-of-22 shooting. He also added 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Ryan Schmidt was limited with an ankle injury and finished with 12 points. St Anthony will finish up their season this morning at 9:30 against Peoria Christian after they lost in their semifinal to Lanark Eastland 55-35. The championship will be tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.
Dierre Hill Jr led Althoff with 22 points as they easily beat Christ the King in their 2a semifinal 60-45. The Crusaders will look for the school’s 2nd ever state title tomorrow afternoon at 3pm when they get Chicago Dyett who won their showdown with Peoria Manual 54-50. The 3rd place game is today at 11:15.
The 3a semifinals saw Brother Rice beat St Patrick 48-33 and DePaul College Prep over Chatham Glenwood 39-25. Their 3rd place game is today at 1 and the 3a state title game is tomorrow at 6pm.
The 4a semifinals are tonight with Lisle Benet Academy taking on Evanston at 6pm followed by Rich Township and Warren Gurnee at 7:45.
