David “Bubba Dave” McClelland, 64, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025.
In his 39 years in EMS, Bubba served 3 districts throughout Southern Illinois. During that time he delivered 3 children, saved countless lives, mentored many young medics, and offered
comfort to all of the families he encountered. Bubba was a force of nature to be reckoned with. He knew no stranger and lent a helping hand wherever he could. Coined Mr. Fix it by his
children, as there was never a problem he couldn’t solve. His skills did not stop with EMS. David began his life career in the oil fields, transitioning into semi-truck driving, teaching EMS classes, craftsmanship, and of course, turning wrenches on every vehicle known to man. He knew of no obstacles, only new skills to be learned. Bubba enjoyed shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and giving grief to those he loved. Most of all, he favored his time spent with his children whether it be at a racetrack or watching YouTube at his desk. We will cherish every “I’ll call you right back, ” and of course, “hope in one hand and **** in the other… and tell me which one fills up first.”
David is survived by his beloved partner in life: Lisa Hocking of Kell; siblings Kari Ward of Florida, Allison Davidson of Junction City and Danny McClelland of Washington; his devoted
children: Brandon McClelland and wife Ambour McClelland of Junction City, Samantha (McClelland) Tate and husband Jason Tate of Junction City, Shafer McClelland of Central City, and daughter Ellie McClelland of Centralia. His ornery grandchildren: Colton Jones, Meagan, Braeden, Taylor, Bradley, and Blake McClelland, Cadenze Johnson and partner Derik Terrell, Zander Tate and Sibella Tate. Great grandchildren Asher Terrell and Baby B. Also surviving David are his precious girls Lizzy and Lulu, and Mike The (Traitor) Cat.
David was greeted into eternal life by his son: David Bradley Jr, parents: Bonnie and David Sr., step-father: Randy Loyd, sister: Wendy and husband Eugene Cochran, nephew: Nathan Ward,
brother-in-law: Rodger “Rubber Lips” Davidson, lifelong mentor: Daddy Bill and wife Phyllis Harrell, and many other family and friends.
