Salem Deputy Police Chief Tyler Rose says one juvenile has been arrested and another is still being sought in connection with a stolen car taken from Porter Street in Salem early Wednesday morning.
Rose says the car was being warmed up by a Salem resident who was preparing to leave from a baby shower. The car was found late Wednesday night parked next to DJ’s Party Supply at Main and Illinois.
The two males seen on video from the store also apparently tried to gain entry to the store by throwing a rock at a window. The attempt was unsuccessful and the two can be seen leaving the area on foot.
Rose says nothing in the car, including the shower gifts, were out of place.
Based on leads from social media, police eventually questioned a 14-year-old Salem juvenile boy. He was taken into custody for motor vehicle theft and criminal damage under $500 and later released to a parent.
The investigation is on-going with another arrest anticipated.
