The attached garage to a Woodlawn home was destroyed by fire Monday morning.
The fire at the Steve Danner home on East Karma Road east of Hall Lane was discovered by a passerby. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy knocked on the door to wake up the family. Fortunately, firemen from multiple departments were able to stop the fire from spreading into the home.
The fire appears to have started in an outbuilding and then spread to the garage. Two vehicles in the garage were also a total loss. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Woodlawn Fire called Jefferson Fire, Mt. Vernon Fire, and Centralia Fire Protection District for mutual aid assistance. The City of Centralia covered the Woodlawn Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire was discovered at 5:45 Monday morning. Firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
