Elizabeth A. “Betty” Robben, age 89 of Carlyle, passed away at Cedarhurst in Breese on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Mrs. Robben was born in Carlyle, IL on July 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Paul F. and Opal M. (Rittenhouse) Seiffert. She married Thomas H. Robben in Carlyle on September 2, 1957, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2001.
Betty dedicated 30 years to the Clinton County Assessment Office, working in mapping and bookkeeping, before leading as the supervisor of assessments. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, where she was active in the church choir and St. Ann Altar Sodality.
She enjoyed bowling and golfing, proudly achieving a hole-in-one. She also loved coaching Little League sports and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Mrs. Robben is survived by her children, Dan Robben, Julie Isaak (Doug), Ginny Dietzel, Tom Robben (Connie) and Rich Robben (Sue); her grandchildren, Derek Robben (Maria), Katie Hankins (Tim), Dylan Robben, Ryan Isaak (Sarah), Kristy Heggemeier (special friend Jesse Howard), Adam Pate, Josh Pate (Alison), Alex Venhaus (Justin), Melanie Cressman (Zac), Rachel Rehkemper (Clayton), Nolan Robben (special friend Grace Boeschen), Bethany Robben, Mark Robben, and Luke Robben; her great-grandchildren: Grayson Robben, Ryker, Rowan and Rorey Isaak, Kali Heggemeier, Lucas Pate, Ryder, Amelia, and Isabella Pate, Nora and Lincoln Venhaus, and she was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Bernard “Curly” Seiffert (Janis) and Jim Seiffert (Clare); and her in-laws, Lenny and Jeanette Robben, Marlene Robben, and Carolyn Robben.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Opal Seiffert; her husband, Thomas Robben; her daughters-in-law: Karen (Raymond) Robben and Lynn (Fonke) Robben; a son-in-law, Terry Dietzel; a granddaughter, Sara Isaak; her in-laws, Herman and Clara (Duepmann) Robben; her siblings, Kate Forrest (Jim), Jane Henn (Glenn), Ruth Peters (Vince), Paul Seiffert (Margie), and Mary Ade; and her in-laws, Vivian and Norbert Hedtkamp, Richard H. Robben, Herman and Vanetta Robben, Harold Robben, Betty and Frank Schoendienst, James Robben, and William Robben.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Zieren Funeral Home, and on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:00-10:40 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle.
